This song was recorded in April 1968 The Hour Glass were a 1960s rhythm and blues band based in Los Angeles, California between 1967 and 1968. 43 days before he died...thats nuts
Sounds really good. Imagine 3 hours of this type of mastery...would like to hear more.
I do have a couple more edits on the channel
Sad to think Skydog would be dead in a month, this was the last song he ever recorded, bless your little pea picking heart Dickie Betts for giving us one of THE MOST beautiful songs in the world.
I WAS THERE THAT NIGHT -- ALLMAN & BETTS WERE WITHOUT A DOUBT IMHO THE FINEST ROCK GUITAR TEAM EVER -- THEY WERE SPELLBINDING
Barry is keeping that song alive...
Needing to hear it???!!!!! ❤❤❤❤😭😭😭🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭❤❤❤❤❤
One of the most beautiful pieces of American music in the country’s history. I love America because of the music it has produced. I am an Englishman, btw
Incredible. Though Stonybrook, 3 days later, is almost 4 minutes longer, and has better fidelity, I LOVE this version more. Thank God we have at least two live versions with Duane of this magnificent song by Dickie.
EAT A 🍑 FOR PEACE
Fantastic! What a great find, so good to hear the 5 versions of Blue Sky Duane was recorded playing, all different. And Berry's bass on this is out of sight! Master improvisers.
Improvising: Composing in real time.
I've often thought that Duane would fit seamlessly sitting in with Trane, Elvin Jones and Mc Coy Tyner, and Trane could have stood on the stage with the Allman Brothers and made an extraordinary contribution to their sound. Maybe there's a parallel universe out there somewhere where that happened.

So beautiful.
One of a kind talent --- There will NEVER be another like him !!!
Incredible performance of this song
I will always be listening to the Allman Brother's the best, always live, and die listening to the music.👍💥
IT'S BEEN A WHILE BUT NEVER FORGET THAT GREAT MUSIC, OF THE ALLMAN BROTHER'S..👍R.I.P. GREG 🙏
-- some great photos here, thanks! Most I'd never seen before. ABB music lives!
Other than the recording quality, this is better than the album!
I was there! Forrest Inn and the Southside Womans Club. Forrest Inn was on Sundays until it burned down.
PLAY ALL NIGHT !!!
Dickies solo on this one is really awesome.
Have to say I prefer Duane’s solo here over Stonybrook. Got a place in my heart for NOLA, and this whole concert just has more fire
Still one of my favorite bands (the Brothers, not the Joys) - saw them in Ft. Worth along about 1970.
Thanks for the upload. Not accessible in Spotify India dky
Oakley is a diesel 18 wheeler haulin ass.
poor maynard portwood
Who plays lead guitar this song besides the guitar harmonies ,,, i mean the guitar solo
Duane solo until about the 4 minute mark, and then dickey solo
@@bthoma1 How do you know this ?
@@mickjh55 honestly my ears man. You can hear the riffs. But I could be 100% wrong. But being a huge fan I feel I can tell the two apart
Bthoma1 I want more But what I’d love is the Original 6 live video of Stormy Monday at Fillmore East. That’d be a Dream I’d Like To See
I'm on my 4th time in a row now. I learn so much by reading comments, I have to go back and see if I can hear what they are talking about.
Lucky save. Thanks John DuBois!
There is this certain sadness in the early Brothers music with Duane and Berry. I can only describe it as an intense awareness of the reality of death, of loving life so much, but you know that all things come to pass. I really feel Duane knew he was not long for this world. His playing was almost desperate at times, and its reflected in certain things people said about him and the way he lived. I believe he told Rick Hall or Jerry Wexler not to bet on him, because he was going to get as much as he could out of life, and you can read between the lines in what he meant by that

BEST F_ CKING BAND EVER! EVER!!!
Still listening to this. Man, this all-time.
I honestly thought this was a Yardbirds demo when I fist heard it. _Very_ impressive!
Maaaan duanes tone!!!!!
Red Dog was there <3
MORE, MORE, MORE! That last pic, outtake from Filmore album shoot. Never saw before. A great post. Thank you.
I love the pictures! And love the ABB. 💕
The peak that starts at 2:14 is quite possibly the best thing I've ever heard, the entire band goes into an entirely different dimension dimension there.
